Yuesao (月嫂)

A yuesao is a postpartum nanny, usually hired for 26 or 42 days. In Beijing, 2026 quotes commonly range from ¥15,000 to ¥40,000. The price depends on credentials and whether night feeds are included. Interview more than one person. Sign a contract that states who buys groceries and what hours are covered.

Ayi (阿姨)

After the yuesao leaves, many dual-income households hire an ayi (household helper). Part-time cleaning often costs ¥3,000–5,000 per month. Childcare costs more. Agency staff cost more and are easier to replace. A helper recommended by a friend may cost less and involves more personal risk.
